Class V – Sprouts Activity

On 29th July 2022, students started the activity with the first step.
Students of class 5 soaked moong lentils in a vessel.Then they washed the lentils two to three times with tap water.
After that the moong lentils were left aside for a day.
Next day,they drained the water and wrapped the seeds in a white cloth and set it aside for a day or two.
On 1st August 2022, students observed sprouts growing on the lentils.At this stage, lentils looked very beautiful.
After that, grated coconut was added and brown sugar were added to the sprouted lentils. The tasty and delicious moong dhal salad was ready to serve to the students.
Our respected principal Madam and teachers Mrs.Gayathri and Mrs.Nansi also took part in this activity. Our principal mam distributed the salad to students and they enjoyed eating the salad with their friends.
From this activity, students learnt about how seeds started to germinate into a seedling and how it sprouts under favourable conditions.
Students came to know that sprouted seeds are very good for our health and enhances the nutritional benefits of lentils. They also understood that it is rich in proteins, antioxidants and fibre.
