VISIT TO EGMORE MUSEUM AND CONNEMARA LIBRARY

In a view to show the miniature reflection of a country’s past, ancient times and to expand the knowledge of the path, a visit to the museum was organised by our school. 5 students accompanied by 2 teachers visited the museum on 13th March 2024.
Initially they were exposed to the exquisite and long-lasting collections of South Indian bronze sculptures that belonged to Pallava and Chola era dated 7th to 11th century. It was observed that some of the sculptures were made of panchaloha an alloy of five metal including copper, Silver, Gold, zinc and iron. Next, we saw the remains of the Ancient Indus Valley Civilization, ‘A bronze age society such as excavations around 2600 BCE to 1900 BCE, ornaments terracotta bricks, weights, seals, jewelry, tools, precious stones, pots, artistic works and earthenware vessels which depicted the technique of metallurgy.
In addition to this, we witnessed different culture and lifestyle of states such as Kerala, Tamil Nadu and different types of tribal life styles and their ornament. Seeing the evolution of human,structures of skeleton teeth, bones, skull and mouth was too inspiring and provided a unique long-term view of the evolution of human behavior.
Finally, we visited the fabulous paintings of Raja Ravi Varma, the father of Indian painting which depicted the mythological life of Hindu deities, religious figures, Thanjavur paintings, oil painting and block painting that showed how our art style reached and where it is right now. We also went to the Kannimara Public Library a repository of century old Publications and got motivated to read books.
On the whole, this visit to the museum which is a great source of knowledge, made us familiar with our history, culture, civilization, religion, art and architecture of our country.
It was certainly memorable and knowledgeable visit, the things we had seen there are still fresh in our memories.
