Saraswathi Pooja

To foster the sanctitude towards Goddess Saraswathi, our school celebrated Saraswathi Puja on 26th October 2020.

          Our Board Members, Mrs. Mala Thangaraja and Mrs. Kokila made their gracious presence for the occasion. The Saraswathi Puja was celebrated at our School Premises. The program started with the lighting of the bronze lamp by our dignitaries. The puja was performed by our teachers. They sang devotional songs invoking the grace and blessings of the Almighty. The golu was organized for nine days in our School Premises and every day one teacher took charge of the lighting of the lamp. Even during this pandemic, we abided by the government norms and maintained social distancing and made the program a grand success.

Republic Day Celebration

Republic Day was celebrated in our school on 26th January, 2021 with fervor and pride across India. Our guest for the day Mr & Mrs. Shanmugakani and our board members marked their presence. The guests were cordially welcomed and escorted by our Physical Educators with our school band. Our Guest hoisted our National Flag to commemorate our sovereignty. Students contributed their part in various programs and expressed their loyalism.  Our Chief Guest Mr. Shanmugakani kindled our national loyalty through his thought provoking speech. Our Board Member Mrs. Mala Thangaraj blessed us with her motivating words. The entire program was webcast online.

Mother Language Day

To foster multilingualism and cultural diversity, International Mother Language day was celebrated virtually in our school on 20th, February, 2021. To eulogize the prominence of their home languages, parents and students of KBV joined their hands together and rose to the occasion with cultural programs depicting their mother languages. Each language was displayed through eccentric pieces of music and dramatization. The recitations of holy verses and rendition of songs depicted their culture and tradition. Many other stunning programs were showcased by the parents and students of KBV. Our guests Mr. B.Shakthivel, our School Alumini and our Board Members solemnly graced the occasion with their presence. The programs were beautifully collaborated by our parents and our teachers who constructed the structure of the program for our students to deliver.

The ‘World Sparrow Day’ was celebrated in our school with an aim to raise awareness and protect the birds. The theme for WORLD SPARROW DAY is “I LOVE Sparrows”. The theme has been inspired by the hope that more and more of us will celebrate the relationship between PEOPLE AND SPARROWS.

Our school management left no stone unturned to shelter these little sparrows. Mr. Kuruvi Ganesan, a bird and nature lover took the initiative in motivating our students to create small bird houses by apportioning them with small wooden planks neatly cut into different shapes which was then remodeled into tantalizing small bird houses.

They formed small groups and set in motion and fabricated small bird houses. Our students relished the accomplishment of the bird houses and thus bestowed these little sparrows their home. Their shelters will be stationed in school later and it will be guarded. This event was covered by ‘News J’ channel and was telecasted.

International Yoga Day

The 7th International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June 2021 in two sessions (7.00- 8.00 a.m. & 8.00-9.00 a.m.) at Kavi Bharathi Vidyalaya School, Chennai. More than 200 students participated in this virtual celebration. The program commenced with the prayer song. Our Principal welcomed the gathering and spoke about the science of yoga. A sneak-peek into the history of Yoga was given by the host bilingually. The resource person, Ms. Sarala Devi (Yoga Trainer), demonstrated few yoga postures, which highly motivated the students. In her address to the students, she emphasized, “Regular practice and devoting at least 10 minutes for Yoga a day helps one improve flexibility and concentration and bring about a positive vibe in the person who practices it regularly”. Surya Namaskar was done by Vedanth of Class IX. Periannan of Class X performed a plethora of yoga formations that added aroma to the significance of fitness.

National Reading Day

The 26th National Reading Day was celebrated on 19th June 2021 by our students of Kavi Bharathi Vidyalaya, Chennai. To honour the father of the Librarian Movement, the late P.N. Panicker, 19th June is being celebrated as ‘National Reading Day’ and the following weeks as reading week till 12th July 2021. To propagate the practice and also emphasize on the improvement of reading abilities, our students were exposed to various activities class wise. Students participated eagerly and showed interest in learning new vocabulary words and realized that reading helps them develop their language and listening skill and also enriches their command in the language.

As an initiative to nurture bees, bee hives have been set up in our school terrace since 2020 – 2021. There were bees coming in from all over and started collecting honey and segregating it. Our teaching staff Ms. Tamil Selvi, Ms. Nansi Rani and Ms. Lingaselvam have been doing great job in beekeeping. The first honey was harvested from the apiary on July 17, 2021.

Kamarajar Birthday Celebration

The great contributor for education, Kamarajar’s 119th birth anniversary was celebrated on 15th July 2021 virtually by the students of Kavi Bharathi Vidyalaya.

Students of classes I to X performed various activities like songs, speeches, Power Point Presentations and showcased them during their online sessions to honour the great legend who was known for his simplicity.


To inculcate the leadership qualities among students, our school, Kavi Bharathi Vidyalaya, organised the School Induction Ceremony on 7th August 2021 in which the students from classes 3 to 10 participated and cast their votes. The students, who contested for different posts, campaigned on 4th and 5th August through the zoom platform. On the 7th of August, a Google Form was sent to the students to elect their leaders for the academic year 2021-22. Twenty-four students competed for the posts of SPL, ASPL, House Captains and House Vice-Captains. Aradhana A.G of Class X was elected as the SPL with 224 votes and Ashwin of Class IX as the ASPL with 229 votes.
The students actively participated and were elated with a new method of casting votes and thus the student council was formed this year using the virtual mode.


Our school Kavi Bharathi Vidyalaya celebrated Alumni Meet on 7th August 2021. It is conducted every year to reconnect with all the Alumni and celebrate their success and various achievements. Our correspondent and Board members graced the occasion and a special welcome was extended by our principal to all the dignitaries and the alumni. All the Alumni actively took part in the cultural programs such as dance, instrumental music, rap songs etc., Many of them shared their memorable experiences with KBV and their current status and achievements. With the support of our technical teacher, the program was conducted through the Zoom collaboration tool. More than 165 participants graced the celebration with their presence and made the event successful and a memorable one.


To inculcate the feeling of patriotism and loyalty towards our country, our esteemed school celebrated the 75th Independence day. The function was presided over by Mr. Rajkumar A.C. & Ms. Rani Rajkumar (grandparents of Selvi. Hansuja. A, Selvi. Kanisha Lewana. K. K and Selvan. Sujith Adithya). They were accompanied by our Board Members, Mrs. Kokila Sureshkumar, our executive committee member & Mrs. Mala Thangaraj, Assistant Secretary. Our proud tricolor flag was hoisted prominently by the chief guest Mr. Rajkumar. Our SPL Aaradhana welcomed the gathering. The flag song was sung by a team of students while the other shook their legs to that number. Our children enacted a drama which depicted the life of the great Veera Mangai, Velu Naachiyaar. They gracefully danced to the tune of the Western Song which kindled the patriotic fervor of the audience.
Our Chief Guest Mr. Rajkumar delivered a speech on the values and importance of Independence. Our Executive Committee member, Kokila Sureshkumar, bestowed her blessings upon our children by her gracious and elegant speech.
Finally, the ASPL Ashwin. P thanked the gathering for the gracious presence. It was a memorable 75th Independence day celebration provoking our patriotism and loyalty towards the motherland.


Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s Birthday that falls on 5th September is commemorated as National Teachers’ Day. The occasion was celebrated in our school virtually in an enthralling and entertaining manner.

The united efforts of our students and parents to endear their beloved teachers was the highlight of the programme.
The Programme commenced with the prayer song. Then the scintillating dance performance by our students were a thorough treat to everyone’s eyes. Students recited poems about their favourite teachers and the songs of the students gladdened the hearts of every teacher. Finally the program’s curtain was closed by Master Ashwin’s thanksgiving.


With the fervour of Nationalism and Patriotism, Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated every year as a National festival of India by the Indians with the same enthusiasm. This day is for remembering his teachings and values, which he contributed to the society, and to understand the sacrifices he made for the freedom of our country by arranging different struggle movements.

To mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhiji this year our school Kavi Bharathi Vidyalaya conducted elocution and essay competitions under the topic “Gandhiji’s visit to Madurai and his decision on not donning a cloth over his upper torso.
The purpose of these competitions are, to make the children of today’s generation aware of what had happened in the early days and what intense struggle our ancestors underwent to free India from the clutches of British. Understanding the value that freedom.

Our school organized Cleanliness Drive to create an awareness among the students regarding cleanliness and its benefits. It’s a two weeks program from 1st September to 15th September 2021. Students actively took part in this drive with great zeal. It reflected the level of knowledge as well as awareness among the students. Students participated in various activities like slogan writing, poster making, Power point presentations etc., and exhibited their overwhelming enthusiasm. Also our students prepared paper baskets (made out of waste) to collect garbage from the school premises. Every student took part in making the school spic and span and had an euphoric memory after the outbreak of pandemic.


On 18 October 2021, officers from Health care department, Teynampet visited Kavi Bharathi Vidyalaya. Mr. Arokiya Raj addressed the students of class 9 to spread awareness on the communicable disease ‘Leprosy’. The mode of communication of leprosy and its symptoms were explained clearly to the students. He also insisted on how its early detection can help in eradication of the disease. Students were educated to identify the symptoms of leprosy and the importance of visiting a doctor without any delay. They were encouraged to be health care ambassadors to raise awareness on leprosy in their neighbourhood. The session ended with the screening of the students by the health officials.


Right from childhood, we are taught ‘Mathru Devo Bhava; Pithru Devo Bhava; Acharya Devo Bhava’. Our school, Kavi Bharati Vidyalaya set the stage for the students of grades 9&10 to perform Padha Pooja to illustrate their affection and gratitude to their parents. This Pada Pooja, a regular annual event is a humble effort to help children follow these ancient sayings, which keeps reminding us of our rich cultural heritage, apart from making our parents’ hearts filled with eternal bliss. Priests from different religions conducted the pooja and blessed the students. Our board members also took part and showered their blessings.
