Kavi Bharathi Vidyalaya Students Shine as Finalists at IIT Madras JMT 2026. The
Students of Kavi Bharathi Vidyalaya, Chennai, have achieved a proud milestone by becoming finalists in the IIT Madras Shaastra Junior Makeathon (JMT) 2026, a prestigious national-level innovation competition that encourages young minds to solve real-world problems.
The student team, “KBV TECH TRIO”, from Grades 6 to 8, worked on the theme “Safety and Security – AI Smart Helmet for Safer Roads by 2047.” Their project, an AI-Powered Smart Helmet, addresses a common road-safety issue observed near schools—parents and riders neglecting helmet use for short distances.
Through surveys, interviews, observations, and community awareness drives, the students identified the lack of helmet discipline as a serious concern. They then designed a technology-based solution using sensors and microcontrollers to detect helmet usage, identify accidents, and send alert messages. The prototype aims to reduce head injuries, promote responsible riding habits, and create awareness among parents and students alike.
The project aligns strongly with the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, emphasizing how technology, awareness, and responsible citizenship can work together to build a safer and more sophisticated India.
The school management congratulates the students and appreciates the dedicated guidance of the school mentor and teachers, whose support played a vital role in shaping this innovative idea. The achievement stands as a testament to the school’s commitment to fostering creativity, critical thinking, and social responsibility among students.
Kavi Bharathi Vidyalaya wishes the KBV TECH TRIO team continued success as they represent the school at the final stage of IIT Madras JMT 2026.
