Ragi Day – A Step Towards a Healthy Beginning

Ragi Day – A Step Towards a Healthy Beginning

Our school joyfully celebrated Ragi Day on 11.11.25 (Tuesday), taking a meaningful step toward promoting healthy eating habits among our young learners from Pre-KG to Grade II. The event was wonderfully organized by our School Headmistress and teachers, highlighting the importance of traditional and nutritious foods.

The day began with cheerful smiles and excitement as the children learned about Ragi — a super grain known for its rich content of Calcium, Iron, and Fiber. The Headmistress explained how Ragi helps strengthen bones, improves digestion, and provides long-lasting energy, making it an ideal food for growing children.

A colourful display of homemade Ragi dishes added flavour to the celebration. Students brought and enjoyed a variety of healthy preparations during snack time, including:

  • Ragi Porridge – a wholesome and nourishing drink
  • Ragi Dosa / Idli – a perfect breakfast option
  • Ragi Laddoos and Cookies – tasty yet healthy treats for kids

Adding joy to the event, the Headmistress and teachers sang a lively Healthy Ragi Good Food Song, encouraging children to clap, sing along, and celebrate the goodness of this traditional millet.

The Ragi Day celebration turned out to be a truly healthy and happy experience. It encouraged our little ones to appreciate the value of traditional millets like Ragi and to make healthier food choices every day.
