The Power of Sesame (Ellu) – A Tiny Seed With a Big Heart

Our little champs learned about a tiny seed with a big heart – Sesame (Ellu). Though small in size, sesame seeds are packed with energy, strength, and goodness, just like our young learners who shine brightly every day.The purpose of celebrating Sesame Healthy Day was to help children understand the importance of this very old, traditional seed that has been used for generations, especially in festive dishes across India.

To promote healthy eating, students were motivated to bring delicious homemade sesame-based snacks, including:

  • Sesame Ladoo / Ellu Urundai
  • Ellu Sadam
  • Ellu Mittai
  • Ellu Podi with Idly / Dosa
  • Ellu Chutney

…and many more tasty, nutritious treats shared joyfully among the children.

The students learned how sesame helps us naturally gain:

  • Energy Boost – keeps children active

  • Sharpened Brain – supports learning and strong memory

  • Happy Tummy – smooth digestion

  • Natural Immunity – protects the body from germs

  • Overall Strength – essential for growing minds and bodies

The School Headmistress shared a beautiful message with the children:

“Just like sesame seeds are tiny yet powerful, every child is full of hidden strength, talent, and sparkle. By choosing healthy, traditional, homemade food, they grow into strong, smart, and confident leaders of tomorrow.”

The Power of Sesame Day truly inspired our young learners to appreciate traditional foods and make healthier eating choices every day.
