“Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.”
Our school celebrated International Yoga Day on 19 June 2026 with great zeal and enthusiasm, fostering awareness among students about the profound impact of yoga on physical health, mental well-being, and overall harmony. The celebration aimed to instil the values of mindfulness, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle among young learners.
The day commenced with a series of engaging activities designed to highlight the significance of yoga. A Yoga Quiz Competition was organized for students of Classes VI and VII, where participants showcased their knowledge of various aspects of yoga, including chakras, benefits of yoga, yoga practices and guidelines, relaxation postures, breathing techniques, the eight limbs of yoga, and different asanas. The winners were recognized and honoured with prizes for their outstanding performance.
A mass yoga demonstration was conducted for students from Classes III to XII, providing them with an opportunity to practise yoga postures, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques under proper guidance. The activity emphasized the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life for maintaining physical fitness and mental calmness.
A special yoga awareness seminar was organized for students of Classes VIII and X by experts from the Isha Yoga Centre and a trained yoga instructor from another school. The session provided valuable insights into the benefits of yoga, mindfulness practices, and the role of yoga in enhancing concentration and emotional well-being.
To encourage creativity and reflection, an essay writing competition was also conducted, allowing students to express their understanding and appreciation of yoga and its importance in modern life.
The celebration concluded with a renewed commitment among students to embrace yoga as an integral part of their daily routine. The event served as a reminder that yoga is not merely a physical practice but a holistic approach towards achieving a healthy body, a peaceful mind, and a balanced life.
